Practical Workshop on CRA and MRA for EAST-ENP Countries

21 - 22 October 2019, in the framework of the European Neighborhood Policy and Memorandum of Cooperation, the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) and the Georgian Agricultural Research Center (SRCA) held Practical Workshop on chemical and microbiological risk assessment for EAST-ENP Countries.

The seminar was attended by representatives of the National Food Agency of Sukhumi State University, the Research Institute of Sanitation, Hygiene and Medical Ecology of Georgia, the Scientific-Research Center of Agriculture of Georgia, as well as risk assessment experts from Ukraine, Moldova, Armenia, Azerbaijan and Belarus, in including specialists of the republican unitary enterprise «Scientific Practical Centre of Hygiene».

During the workshop, questions were studied in the field of hazard and risk characterization in assessing chemical risks, integrated approaches for their assessment. Modern in silico methodologies and tools for describing toxicokinetic and toxicodynamic processes and their application for assessing the dangers of chemicals for humans are considered. The experts presented tools for the quantitative assessment of chemical and microbiological risks, the principles of working with them, the experience of their application by European countries. Participated in training on the practical application of FAIM and RACE tools. The issues of developing national risk assessment systems by the participating countries of the event, as well as the experience of European countries in this regard, were discussed. The priority areas in the field of chemical risk assessment in the Republic of Belarus are presented.
