International projects

Implementation of projects, strategies, initiatives with regard to five Parma commitments.

The Children’s Environment and Health Action Plan for Europe (CEHAPE) of the World Health Organization defined The Regional priority goals within the framework of the implementation of commitments to protect children's health.

The Ad Hoc Working Group of the European Environment and Health Task Force (EHTF) chose some efforts examples of specialists of «Scientific practical centre of hygiene» under the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Belarus, entitled «Evaluation of GLAAS operations in Belarus» and «The implementation of the strategic approach to international management of chemicals in Belarus» for presentation at the exhibition of posters issued by the WHO Regional Office for Europe, within the conference on the mid-term review of the European process «Environment and Health» in Haifa (Israel) on 28–30 April 2015.

The commitment within The Regional priority goal 1 «Ensuring public health by improving access to safe water and sanitation»

The technologies:

  • development of criteria for the physiological usefulness of drinking water in order to improve the safety and quality of drinking water supply in the Republic of Belarus;
  • improvement of approaches to the monitoring of nitrate pollution of drinking water in the Republic of Belarus on the basis of a risk assessment methodology.

The initiative:

  • Evaluation of GLAAS operations in Belarus.

The commitment within The Regional priority goal 2 «Addressing obesity and injuries through safe environments, physical activity and healthy diet»

The technology:

  • development of measures to reduce the risk of overweight formation of school-age children in the Republic of Belarus.

The commitment within The Regional priority goal 3 «Preventing disease through improved outdoor and indoor air quality»

International scientific research:

  • The project «School environment and respiratory diseases of children».

The policy:

  • Measures for the prevention of tobacco use in the Republic of Belarus.

The commitment within The Regional priority goal 4 «Preventing disease arising from chemical, biological and physical environments»

The policies:

  • Health of employees that use chrysotile asbestos in Belarus;
  • Implementation of the strategic approach to international chemicals management in the Republic of Belarus.

The global monitoring project under the auspices of UNEP «Development of a plan for global monitoring of human exposure to and environmental concentrations of mercury».

The project for implementation of the strategic approach to international chemicals management.

The project of international technical assistance and its effectiveness «The Belarus-UNDP-UNEP partnership initiative for the integration of chemicals sound management into development planning processes».
