On December 18-19, 2017, a seminar with international participation was held on the basis of the republican unitary enterprise «Scientific practical hygiene of centre» - «National consultations on preparation for the internal procedure on accession of the Republic of Belarus to the Rotterdam Convention - one step closer to the rational management of chemicals».
The opening speech was delivered by the Chief State Sanitary Doctor of the Republic of Belarus - Deputy Minister of Health Natalia Pavlovna Zhukova.
Within two days, experts discussed critical and relevant issues relating to the identification of existing processes and mechanisms that contribute to the most effective implementation of the provisions of the Rotterdam Convention and its role in the integrated national pesticide and industrial chemicals management system.
The seminar was attended by specialists of the Centre, as well as representatives of ministries and departments, sanitary and epidemiological stations of Minsk city and the regions of the Republic of Belarus, the Belarusian State Concern for Oil and Chemistry (Belneftekhim Concern), national producers of plant protection products and chemicals. The seminar was organized with the support of the Executive Secretary of the Basel, Rotterdam and Stockholm Conventions Rolph Payet, with the participation of representatives of the Secretariat of the Rotterdam Convention represented by Tatiana Terekhova and Aleksandar Mihajlovski.
